Penn Wynne Elementary School

K & 1st Grade Orientation

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It is our pleasure to welcome you to Penn Wynne School.  The start of elementary school can be an exciting and momentous event for your entire family.  With that in mind, we hope that our kindergarten and first grade orientations will provide an inviting introduction to Penn Wynne for both you and your children.  New kindergartners will visit our kindergarten rooms to spend time with a few of our teachers and engage in routine activities relating to school readiness skills. Prospective first graders, who are now in kindergarten, will visit our first grade classrooms where they will buddy up for a classroom activity.  During those times, parents will meet with me and members of our staff.

To register for orientation, please go to the Penn Wynne School home page at Orientation schedules are included below. Each session will be approximately one hour. It may be helpful to prepare your child in advance.

As you proceed through new student registration, you may have questions. Our office staff is well equipped to assist you through this process. Please note staff below:

  • Ms. Connie Kolkka, Ms. Joanne Suozzi and Ms. Rae D’Amora, Secretaries
  • Ms. Yvette DeVoue and Ms. Rita Regan, Nurses
  • Ms. Cathy Black and Ms. Sarah Payne, Counselors

It is rather amazing to contemplate that next year's kindergarten and first grade students are members of the graduating classes of 2030 and 2031! We hope that you will find the beginning of this journey as wonderful as we do. We look forward to welcoming you and your children to our exciting school community.

Kindergarten Parents/Guardians, please note:  The orientation session you register for DOES NOT designate the morning or afternoon session your child will attend in September.  Parents/guardians may submit a session preference request only if it is based on child care arrangements. Please email these requests to Mr. B at and cc Ms. Kolkka at by June 3, 2019. If you plan for your child to attend an enrichment program such as MELC, Right at School or Explorers, he or she will be assigned to a kindergarten session based on the needs of balancing our kindergarten program.  Please do not submit a preferred session request if your child will be receiving a full day of schooling/enrichment.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call the Penn Wynne School office at (610) 645-1450.

Thank you for your cooperation.
