Students at Penn Wynne Elementary School kicked off the week of February 26, 2024, with an exciting game show assembly. The event served to reinforce the school's expectations, known as the "3Bs" -- Be Safe, Be Kind and Be Respectful -- and was part of Penn Wynne's ongoing PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Support) work.
At Penn Wynne, students earn Penguin Points when staff see them exemplifying the 3Bs. They have classroom and school wide point goals, and when classes reach certain point levels, they earn rewards, such as movie parties, time at the Lego wall, extra recess and more.
During the game show assembly, students from each grade were selected as contestants. They competed to answer trivia and true/false questions about how to follow the 3Bs at lunch, on the school bus, at recess and in the halls. Much to the delight of students, staff modeled both good 3B behavior and behavior that wasn't so good, with the winning students picking out which was correct.
Winning contestants earned prizes for themselves and their classmates. The show even had commercial breaks. During the first break, students from RARE (Realizing Achievement by Recognizing Excellence) shared quotes, facts and asked a trivia question in honor of Black History Month. During the second break, a small group of fourth graders performed a rap song about the 3Bs that had everyone clapping along.
