Penn Wynne Elementary School's fourth graders, who will head to Black Rock Middle School next year, entertained students and families alike with their foot-tapping, laugh-along musical production of "Summer Camp."
The show, directed by Music Teacher Nicholas Trawick, tells the story of children heading off to Camp Runamok, where -- as you might expect -- things tend to run amok. Whether it's fear of bugs, a camper who knows everything there is to know about knots, or a bear running through the woods, the campers experience it all in just one week.
Through songs, dances and talent show acts, the students showed how the campers learn to appreciate their time together, enjoy nature and create a sense of belonging for everyone, regardless of their likes or dislikes, fears or special skills.
Both the student and adult audiences were captivated by the performances. And the story helped prepare the Penn Wynne Class of 2023 for the big adventures they have ahead, this summer and beyond.
