About PWES
Penn Wynne School is one of six elementary schools in the Lower Merion School District and is a nationally-recognized Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. Currently, we have an enrollment of around 750 students in kindergarten through fourth grade. The academic program is supported by a professional and support staff, which includes 33 classroom teachers. Additional staff in the areas of special education, gifted support, art, music, library and physical education support the total educational program. A full time counselor and two literacy specialists are also on staff and serve as a resource for children, staff and parents.
Extracurricular activities are also available. Band, Orchestra and Chorus rehearsals are held in the mornings for participating students. Penn Wynne also offers an after-school sports program which begins in the early fall and continues until the spring. These programs are very popular with the students and are held after the regular school day.
The Penn Wynne Home and School Association is an active group of parents that meets monthly to discuss items of concern to the greater school community. The HSA works collaboratively with the staff in order to provide cultural and enriching experiences for the entire student body.
The combination of an enthusiastic group of children, a dedicated staff and a supportive parent group all help to make our school a caring and supportive place in which to learn. Children are respected as individuals and taught not only to value their personal talents, but also to appreciate the strengths and differences of others.
