Second grade students in Mrs. LeFevre's class at Penn Valley Elementary School recently participated in a fun-filled STEM activity that put their creativity and ingenuity to the test.
Groups of three students were each given a mini-pumpkin, a supply of straws and a roll of masking tape. Their challenge was to design and create a stand for the pumpkin using the materials provided that would raise it off the table surface and support its weight. Students worked together using a trial and error, problem-solving approach after collaborating on design plans. Students tested their models and then worked together to improve their design. Great job, Panthers!
