Penn Valley recently welcomed Hip Hop Fundamentals – an award-winning team of passionate, professional breakdancers – for a fun-filled and engaging cultural enrichment assembly as part of the school's Black History Month programming. The members of Hip Hop Fundamentals are certified teacher-artists, seasoned performers, battle-tested dancers and excellent entertainers who bring their shows to the next level by welcoming and encouraging audience participation.
Throughout the program, Hip Hop Fundamentals used interactive dance to explore Hip Hop's rich cultural history and how an underserved inner-city youth changed the world. The show also focused on youth empowerment, diversity, creativity and teamwork, embodied by the four core principles of Hip Hop: peace, love, unity and having fun!
Students and teachers both had the opportunity to join the members of Hip Hop Fundamentals on stage to learn some moves! Check out the slideshow below for images from the assembly!
