Merion Elementary School

Principal's Welcome

Ms. Anne Heffron, Principal

Welcome to Merion School! We are very proud of the longstanding traditions and the spirit of community which have been built over the years by students, staff and parents. Our community spirit helps to make Merion a wonderful place for children to learn and grow. Parents and staff work collaboratively in order to ensure that our children have opportunities to further their academic, social and emotional development in a safe, secure and engaging learning environment.

When our school doors opened for the 2004-2005 school year, it was after the completion of a three year renovation project. The result was a beautifully modernized facility that included a spacious new library, gymnasium and computer lab. These wonderful changes and additions to our school have assisted us in our ability to enhance our overall mission to students. It is however, the daily interactions among students, staff and parents that have helped to create an atmosphere conducive to enthusiastic involvement in the learning process.

At Merion, children are provided with numerous opportunities to develop not only their academic skills and their critical thinking skills, but also their ability to make connections between the knowledge they gain in the classroom to the world around them. There is a school wide focus on helping children to develop empathy, understanding, cooperation, respect for individual differences and learning to appreciate the perspectives and experiences of others. We feel strongly that helping children to build meaningful connections with others serves to enhance their overall educational experience.
