Merion "Souper Bowl" Helps Those in Need

The Kansas City Chiefs may have won the Super Bowl, but the Merion Mustangs scored a big win with their "Souper Bowl," helping community members experiencing food insecurity.

From January 8, 2024, through February 9, 2024, Merion students brought cans of soup and other shelf-stable food items into school. Each student who donated an item was able to cross a can off the giant tally sheets posted in the school lobby.

Over the monthlong drive, 1000 items were donated! Shortly after the "real" Super Bowl, Philabundance brought their van to the school. Students helped load all the donated items in, so they can be distributed to community members in need.

Students learned that they are all part of a larger community, where we can all help one other. And that's definitely a big win!
