Merion Elementary School recently joined thousands of communities all over the world as the Mustangs hosted their inaugural Walk N’ Roll to School Day sponsored by The National Center for Safe Routes to School, an organization committed to increasing awareness and support for the health, community and environmental benefits of regularly walking or biking to school!
Merion’s Walk N’ Roll took place on May 3 as students, parents/guardians and staff members laced up their shoes, strapped on their helmets and had some fun sauntering and cycling to school, starting the day off on the right foot – with exercise!
Walk to School Day events such as Merion’s help raise awareness of the need to create safer routes for walking/bicycling and emphasize the importance of issues such as increasing physical activity among children, pedestrian safety, traffic congestion and concern for the environment. The events also help build connections between families, schools and the broader community.
