Lower Merion School District was recently well-represented at buildOn's Community Team Leadership Conference in Detroit, Michigan as Claire Dalinka (LMHS), Nicole Loonstyn (LMHS), Aidan Fleming (HHS) and Leslie Bullitt (BCMS, buildOn co-sponsor) made their way to the midwest for the three-day program.
The conference served as an opportunity for students and educators from across the globe to come together and connect with each other, the buildOn organization and representatives from the various international programs. Throughout the course of the conference, chapter leaders and all in attendance explored the need for global literacy and how it relates to poverty reduction. The conference featured workshops, discussions, social activities and dynamic speakers, including buildOn president and founder, Jim Ziolkowski. Participants became equipped with the inspiration, skills and confidence necessary to break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy in the real world.
The Lower Merion and Harriton buildOn community teams are looking forward to using their newly acquired skills and knowledge as they begin to prepare for the 2018-19 school year and service efforts both at home and abroad.
