A current Lower Merion High School student and an alumna both received Girl Scout Gold Awards from the Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania on December 18, 2018.
Current junior Ashlyn Fiorellini received her Gold Award for running a Discovery Science Camp at St. Matthias Church. The camp provided an affordable opportunity for local children who wanted to learn more about science. Fiorellini collected donations and used recycled materials to create fun, hands-on experiments for her campers. She is active in buildOn, plays field hockey and is a Brownie Troop Assistant.
LMHS alumna Laura Tague (pictured) is a student at Bryn Mawr College. She won a Gold Award for "Harvesting Hope" -- a project that addressed the lack of fresh produce for families who use the Narberth Food Bank. She worked with fellow students to repair a garden and then donated the produce they grew. She also created a video about her project to show others how to grow produce for donation.
Congratulations to both of these young women, who embody the Lower Merion School District motto, "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve."
