Third grade students at Gladwyne Elementary School created a "Wax Museum" to the delight of their families, friends and guests who were invited to visit the museum Friday morning, June 1, 2018.
First, the students selected and learned about the famous people they would portray. Their subjects were a diverse collection including famous athletes, political figures, authors, artists, historical figures, inventors and more. The students created timelines of their subjects' lives and posters featuring highlights of their lives and accomplishments.
For the museum, they dressed as their subjects and stood as still as wax figures at their displays, which were situated in the gymnasium, cafeteria, auditorium and hallway. Guests touring the museum were encouraged to push red buttons by each display -- at which time the "wax" figure would become animated, sharing a famous quote or accomplishment.
The students did a great job with their research and presentations. Thanks to them and the third grade teacher team for sharing this innovative approach to learning about biographies!
