Lower Merion's Sydney Yermish wins Back-to-Back State Championships

A week after claiming her third District title in as many tries, Lower Merion's Sydney Yermish continued her remarkable winning ways as she put an exclamation point on an extraordinary high school career winning a second consecutive PIAA AAA State Championship with a five-under-par 139 at Penn State University's Blue & White golf courses.

Last year as a junior, Yermish completed a clean sweep of championship events winning the Central, District One and State championships. With her most recent victory at Penn State, the sensational senior secured back-to-back perfect seasons as she successfully defended her titles at all three tournaments.

It seems like the only thing that can stop Yermish from winning is COVID-19. The last time she was denied a District championship was back in 2020 when the coronavirus turned the world upside-down and the Central League was unable to schedule a qualifier in enough time to get a league representative to participate.

Next fall, Yermish will continue her academic and athletic career wearing the maize-and-blue of the Michigan Wolverines. Congratulations to Sydney on a legendary high school career and best of luck in the future!
