As they done for decades, Lower Merion High School students showed their school spirit at a Friday afternoon pep rally ahead of the November 2, 2024, rivalry football game against Radnor High School.
The LM-Radnor game is often considered the oldest continuous public-school football rivalry in the country. The first game was held back in 1897. LM won that one by a score of 10-4. LM also won last year's contest and the football team proudly displayed the rivalry trophy during the pep rally.
The rally itself featured performances by the high school's dance team, cheerleaders and staff. A staff member wowed the crowd by breakdancing, performing flips and handstands to raucous applause.
The Spirit Week committee also recognized all of the fall sports teams, including the girls' tennis team, which recently won a state title, and the Special Olympians, whose torch run occurred on Montgomery Avenue during the rally. Members of the Homecoming Court were announced and the Royalty crowned.
The pep rally ended with a tug-of-war competition among the different grades and then between the seniors and the members of the football team.
Kickoff for this year's Radnor game is at 2:00 p.m. at Lower Merion's Arnold Field. To see photos of the pep rally, please click through the slide show below.
