LMHS 10th Grader Scores Biology Honor

Congratulations are in order for Lower Merion High School 10th grader Kenisha Verma, who qualified for the national semi-finals of the USABiolympiad (USABO) exam.

She scored 30 points on the USABO exam, which places her in the top 6% of the total 5095 participants from across the country who took the test. 

The USABO goals are to:

  • Identify highly gifted biology students to stimulate their talents.
  • Nurture curiosity and empower young biologists to develop their interest in life sciences.
  • Encourage an international network of biology scholars and future life science leaders.
  • Propel excellence and leadership in biology-based careers.

The national semi-final round will be held on March 27th. Top participants from that round of testing are selected to move on to the final round and the chance to qualify to partipcate in a summer residential training program, where they learn advanced biological concepts and exacting lab skills.
