TEDxLMSD is an independently-organized annual "TED talk" planned for students, by students with enthusiastic support and mentorship from Lower Merion School District staff. A planning team made up of Harriton and Lower Merion students brings together speakers from around the country to share "ideas worth spreading" in an organized, focused format under the global TED umbrella. Planning team members serve various roles, including program development, budgeting, sponsorship, marketing, public relations, web development, etc. TEDxLMSD is held in the high schools' black box theaters, alternating between schools each year. Up to 120 students can attend (60 from each school). Registration for previous events have been full within 24 hours, with a waiting list of more than 50 students.
