In the Classroom
LMSD has partnered with Startup Corps to embed a hands-on entrepreneurship program in the spring semester Advanced Business Principles courses at Harriton and Lower Merion high schools. Start Up Corps is a non-profit organization that provides curriculum, workshop, mentorship and micro-capital for high school students in the Philadelphia area who wish to launch micro-ventures. With the help of Startup Corps instructors and LMSD staff, students in the Startup Corps program have formulated business ideas, developed business plans and several have been selected to pitch their ideas at regional student pitch contests. Throughout the semester, students meet with advisors and mentors and participate in hands-on learning experiences designed to provide exposure to business and entrepreneurship.
