World Languages

World language is an essential component of the student experience in Lower Merion. The study of languages and cultures provides important preparation for living, leading, and achieving in a global community. The LMSD World Language program seeks to help students:

1. Build proficiency in the target language in order to communicate.
2. Gain knowledge and understanding of other cultures
3. Connect with other disciplines to acquire a deeper insight into one's own language and culture
4. Participate in multilingual communities and global societies

Students in Lower Merion School District have the opportunity to begin the daily study of a new language in 5th grade and continue through high school graduation.
