Adding a text enabled phone number to your LMSD.org profile is easy and consists of 2 basic steps, adding the number and then verifying that number. Once the number is verified, you can use it to receive text alerts for calendar and news items.
Adding a Text Enabled number to your Profile
The first step is to login using your staff, student, parent, alumni or public user account. Once you've logged in, select the Profile option from the account drop down in the upper left corner of the screen.
On the "Edit Profile" screen, under "Contact Info", click the green "+ Add a Phone Number" link. Choose Mobile Phone from the drop down and enter your phone number.
Click the green "Update Profile" button at the bottom of the screen. On the same screen, next to the phone number you just added, click the black pencil icon on the right.
Click the gray "Enable Text Msg" button. You will receive the following pop-up:
If the phone number you've entered supports text messaging, click OK. Choose your mobile phone carrier from the drop down list and click the green "Update Profile" button at the bottom of the screen.
Verifying your Text Enabled number
At this point, you will receive a text message on at the number you supplied. If you do not receive a text message, click the red "Verify" link to the right of the number in your profile and click "Request Code". Click "OK" on the pop-up window.
Once you receive the text message with the verification code, click the red "Verify" link again, enter the code into the "Code" field and click the blue "Verify" link.
You should not see a green check mark icon next to your phone number.
You are now ready to sign up for text based alerts!
