At last night's meeting, the Lower Merion Board of School Directors approved an agreement of sale for 7.56 acres of land at 912, 916, 920 and 922 Spring Mill Road in Villanova. This site would provide necessary field space for the proposed middle school at 1860 Montgomery Avenue. Acquisition of this site enables the District to end consideration of acreage at Stoneleigh.
Also, last night, the Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners (BOC) voted to approve changes to the Township's zoning ordinance that will facilitate construction of a 21st century middle school at 1860 Montgomery Avenue.
Together, the acquisition of the field space property and the BOC vote to approve changes to the zoning ordinance mean that some of the contingencies in the agreement of sale for 1860 Montgomery Avenue have been met and construction of the new middle school has moved closer to reality.
The School Board is pleased with the support from the Township and the community for this exciting project.
