Lower Merion School District was well-represented in the winner's circle of the 16th Annual Charlotte Miller Simon Poetry Contest sponsored by the Ardmore Free Library as five students and one teacher were recognized for their outstanding submissions to this year's competition.
Lower Merion High School senior Claire Sun won first place in the Teen Division finishing just ahead of Harriton High School junior Arielle Abt, who finished in second. Gladwyne Elementary School second grader Sloane Natko took home second place honors in the Children's Division and was joined by a pair of Penn Valley fourth graders, Sophia Cognetti and Thomas Picard, who each received honorable mention distinctions. Bala Cynwyd Middle School Spanish teacher Leslie Bullitt rounded out the LMSD contingent as she claimed an honorable mention nod in the Adult Division.
The LMSD honorees will be recognized in a special Award Ceremony, which will take place on Sunday, April 18 via Zoom. Each of the award-winning poets will receive a certificate of achievement and have the opportunity to virtually share their poems during the event. The honorees are pictured in the slideshow below!
