Lower Merion School District was well-represented in the winner's circle of the 14th Annual Charlotte Miller Simon Poetry Contest sponsored by the Ardmore Free Library as three students and a teacher were recently recognized for their outstanding submissions to this year's competition.
Penn Wynne Elementary School fifth grader Sage Bowman won first place in the Children's Division (Grades 1-6), while Harriton High School sophomores Sophie Weinstein and Michael Medveckus each earned Honorable Mention accolades in the Teen Division (Grades 7-12). An LMSD staff member also found himself among the honorees in this year's contest as Harriton English teacher Jason Fritz claimed the top prize in the Adult Division (Ages 18+).
The LMSD honorees were recently celebrated at a special Award Ceremony, which took place on March 10 in the Lower Merion Township Building. Each of the award-winning poets received a certificate of achievement and had the opportunity to share their poem with those in attendance.
