Harriton's Brian Gauvin selected as 2017 Axalta All-Pro Teacher

Harriton High School chemistry teacher Brian Gauvin was recently selected as a 2017 Axalta All-Pro Teacher recognizing outstanding teachers in the tri-state area for their contributions to their students, school and community. This program is sponsored by the Philadelphia Eagles and Axalta Coating Systems.

The criteria for being selected as an Axalta All-Pro Teacher is three-fold:

  • Educational Drive: the teacher demonstrates a commitment to seeing all students excel in the classroom and supports colleagues within the school system
  • Innovation in the Classroom: the teacher demonstrates innovative ways of inspiring students through incorporating technology in the classroom as part of the learning process
  • Community Ownership: the teacher engages students outside the classroom via after-school programs, clubs, student government and/or athletics

Along with his role as a chemistry teacher, Gauvin is also one of the driving forces behind one of the most decorated programs in the District – Harriton Science Olympiad. Under Gauvin's leadership, the Rams have continued their unprecedented legacy of success winning 19 of the last 20 Pennsylvania Science Olympiad State Championships and have finished in the top-ten at the National Science Olympiad for 23 consecutive years, including a pair of second-place finishes in recent competitions.

As one of only 10 Axalta All-Pro Teachers in the 2017 class, Gauvin has earned a $2,000 donation for Harriton, which can be used for school supplies or programming; four tickets to an Eagles home game and a parking pass; a personalized replica Eagles jersey and football; and an invitation for four guests to attend the Breakfast Awards Ceremony.
