Harriton High School Latin students recently turned in an outstanding all-around performance in the Annual Certamen Tournament sponsored by the Classics Department of Princeton University. "Certamen" is a game founded on a love for the Classics requiring fast recall of facts and analysis of information on a variety of topics including Roman History, Mythology, Culture, Grammar and more.
Twenty-five top high schools from throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region were on hand to compete in this year's event as the Rams excelled across each of the Novice, Intermediate and Advanced divisions. The Harriton contingent performed exceedingly well in the semifinals and advanced to the championship round for the first time in school history.
The Novice team, consisting of Gabrielle Schwager (Captain), Katherine Messick, Julia Lester and Tatianna Skorupski took home top honors as they finished in first place overall. At the Intermediate level, Sunme Zhao (Captain), Patrick McCann, Guillermo Rebeiro-Veconi and Joseph Chalissery also made it to finals and finished in the third place overall. Congratulations to all the students who participated in this highly competitive tournament and represented the Rams so well!
