Academic Teams

Students are grouped for instruction into grade level teams. 6th and 7th grade also offer an integrated-curriculum team centered around a theme. These two interdisciplinary programs are eVOLVE (6th), Communiqué (7th). All of these programs require the completion of a student application and the positive recommendation of their current team in order to be considered. The remaining students are then selected into each of these programs via a lottery system. Because of the rigorous and challenging content of these programs, students are expected to be self-motivated, comfortable with independent and small group work, and well organized. Students are also expected to be working at or near grade level in all subject areas. In order to ensure that all students’ needs can be appropriately met, parents should consult with their child’s team and give careful consideration to applying for these programs BEFORE the selection process is completed. Because of staffing and other concerns, applicants who are accepted into these programs will not be dropped out of them after the admission’s lottery is completed.
