Instruction Until Age 22

On August 30, 2023, the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) communicated a policy change that provides continued educational services to students receiving special education.

Under the new policy, eligible students under the federal Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) may access a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) until their 22nd birthday. Information about this policy can be found on PDE's website.

LMSD continues to educate qualifying students until their 22nd birthday if parents/guardians and students wish for services to continue while PDE's new policy is under legal review. Questions about special education services can be directed to your child's special education case manager.
