Homebound Instruction
The Lower Merion School District may provide homebound instruction for a student excused from school for more than ten days due to a temporary mental or physical illness or other urgent reason or for a student who cannot attend their school program due to confinement in a detention home.
Homebound Instruction will be provided by a certified teacher for up to five hours a week for up to three months unless prior approval is obtained from the Pennsylvania Department of Education. To receive homebound instruction, the parent/guardian must submit a written request to the District and written documentation from the student's treating physician stating that the child cannot attend school due to a specified temporary mental or physical illness. The required forms for this documentation are available at the student's school. Questions about homebound instruction can be directed to your child's school counselor.
