Gifted Education
In Pennsylvania, 'intellectually gifted' is defined as outstanding intellectual and creative ability, the development of which requires specially designed programs or support services, or both, not ordinarily provided in the regular education program.
The term 'intellectually gifted' includes someone with an IQ of 130 or higher or someone who meets multiple criteria indicating gifted ability. Additional information about gifted services within Pennsylvania can be located at the following link: gifted education.
Newly enrolled students who have been found eligible for gifted support in another state will need to be evaluated to determine eligibility within Pennsylvania prior to service delivery. The evaluation process is initiated once registration is complete. Questions about gifted education can be directed to the Supervisor of Student Services & Gifted Education (Dr. Lauren Walker, WalkerL@lmsd.org, 610.645.1873).
