Diagnostic Kindergarten
The District has established a Diagnostic Kindergarten program, which is housed at Belmont Hills Elementary School for the 2024-2025 school year, for school-aged students eligible for special education services at this level of support. This program provides a small learning environment where staff continues to evaluate kindergarten-age students with special needs to determine to what extent special education services and supports are needed beyond this first year in a district setting. Participation within the Diagnostic Kindergarten program is determined by a child's IEP team after the completion of an evaluation.
The nature and extent of the need for continued, specially designed instruction is determined based on the student's progress. This program is designed to support student access to curriculum through collaborative teaching, preview and review of curricular content, and direct instruction. Given the nature of this programming, questions should be directed to the Director of Student Services and Special Education (Kimberly Fraser, fraserk@lmsd.org, 610.645.1918).
