504 Service Agreements
The District complies with the Americans with Disabilities Amendment Act (ADAA) to provide students with disability access to educational programs equal to their nondisabled peers. The student's disability and the necessary services, aids, and accommodations are reviewed by a school team with the parent/guardian, and a 504 Service Agreement is developed for the student. The student's eligibility and the specific accommodations necessary are reviewed annually with the parents/guardians. Consent from the parent/guardian is necessary to implement a 504 Service Agreement.
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) ensures equal access and opportunities for students with disabilities in all public school programs, activities, and facilities. It prohibits discrimination and requires schools to provide reasonable accommodations, such as physical accessibility, assistive technology, or modified policies, to support students' needs. While the ADA overlaps with IDEA and Section 504, it applies more broadly to all aspects of school accessibility, not just special education services.
