All LMSD families, staff and community members are urged to review the report on the evaluation of the District's special education programs.

At Monday's Education Committee and Supplemental meeting of the Lower Merion Board of School Directors, Cecelia Dodge, M.A., formerly of West Ed, presented a report on the evaluation of LMSD's Special Education Program.

The presentation included the methodology used in the evaluation, key findings and recommendations. Supt. Robert Copeland urges all families to review the presentation. The meeting video can be found here, the slide deck can be found here. And for those who would like to take a deeper dive into the evaluation, Dr. Kristina Paul, special assistant to the superintendent for program evaluation, has created a Google site that includes the report, data collection protocols, recommended resources and additional relevant information, which can be found here.

In the coming weeks and months, the District Administration will begin initial work to implement the recommendations made in this evaluation, in collaboration with staff, the Lower Merion Committee for Special Education and other stakeholders. As various committees are being formed to advance this work, the Administration will be reaching out for volunteers to serve on those committees.

This is an important ongoing commitment, not just to better serve our students with disabilities, but for our entire LMSD community.
