Information about services and tributes honoring Principal Sean Hughes.

Dear Members of the Lower Merion School District Community,

First, on behalf of the students and staff at Lower Merion High School and the Lower Merion School District, I would like to thank you for the outpouring of love and support this week, since we learned of the tragic passing of LMHS principal Sean Hughes. Next, I would like to share some information about how Mr. Hughes will be honored in the coming days.

Saturday, Nov. 20, 2021

A tribute will be held at Lower Merion High School at 1:00 p.m. Due to space limitations and COVID protocols, this event will be open ONLY to current LMHS students and District staff, along with guests invited by the family. Masks are required. Staff and students will receive a sign-up link. Signups should be completed prior to noon on Friday. Parking will be available at the high school, Lower Merion Township Building (75 E. Lancaster Ave.), Main Line Reform Temple (410 Montgomery Ave.), and Suburban Square. Shuttle buses will run between those locations and LMHS from noon to 12:45, and again after the conclusion of the tribute.

We ask that alumni, community members, staff spouses/partners, etc. join the event virtually by watching the livestream on the District website. In fact, Mr. Hughes would probably enjoy knowing that people were watching together while lifting a glass in his honor.

Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021

The family will be holding a public viewing for Mr. Hughes from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 647 Locust St. in Collegeville, Pa. Parking is available behind and to the side of the church, and along the neighboring residential streets.

Monday, Nov. 22, 2021

Members of Mr. Hughes's family and close friends are invited to a short viewing beginning at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m., also at St. Eleanor's. The funeral Mass will be livestreamed via this link. Interment will be private.

Lower Merion High School will have an asynchronous virtual day on Monday. No students or staff will be in the building. This includes special education students.

Contributions

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be sent to the Sean A. Hughes Children's Trust, P.O. Box 342, Skippack, PA, 19474-0342.

Sincerely,
