Full-Day Universal Kindergarten
In December 2023, the School Board approved universal full-day kindergarten beginning in September 2024. AM and PM K will no longer be options. All kindergarten students will attend a full day of school, from 9:10 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.
Registration
Registration for kindergarten and new first-grade students is now open. Information about how to register and the documents you’ll need, along with answers to Frequently Asked Questions, are available on the Registration Page of the District website.
Partner Schooling
To ensure that we have enough classrooms and staff for full-day kindergarten, it may be necessary to “Partner School” some students. In Partner Schooling, once all the seats are filled in a grade at a student’s home school, students are assigned to a school other than their home school, according to where there is space available. When a child is enrolled in a partner school, they receive all the benefits of attending the home school, including transportation. Kindergarteners who are partner-schooled will return to their home schools for first grade.
In addition to partner schooling at the elementary level, for the upcoming school year, any newly registering high school students will be assigned to Harriton High School, to help alleviate additional crowding at Lower Merion High School. Again, those students will receive LMSD transportation to and from Harriton, no matter where they live in the District.
