Masks to be Optional on LMSD buses as of Friday

Dear LMSD Families,

At Monday night's Education Committee and Supplemental Board Meeting, the Lower Merion Board of School Directors approved a change to the District's Health and Safety Plan. That change will make masks optional on LMSD buses as of Friday, March 18, 2022. This aligns with current CDC guidance, that does not require masking on school buses in counties experiencing "Low" or "Medium" levels of COVID-19.

Masks will be required on buses for students returning to school on days six through ten after they are positive or presumed positive for COVID-19 and for students who are in the Mask-to-Stay (MTS) protocol.

In addition, we continue to ask everyone to use the daily screening tool, keep symptomatic children home from school and contact the LMSD COVID-19 Healthline (610-645-1973 or to report any positive or presumed positive cases.

We recognize that many parents and guardians prefer their children continue to wear masks. Please discuss your family's expectations regarding masking with your children. Staff will continue to have conversations with students about the importance of respecting everyone to promote sensitivity, tolerance and respect around individual families' decisions.

Thank you for your ongoing cooperation and support.
