Lower Merion School District's Gender, Sexuality, Inclusivity & Belonging (GSIB) group invites all elementary and middle school students and their families to the upcoming National Day of Reading: A Celebration of Stories Supporting Transgender & Gender Diverse Youth on March 22 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Black Rock Middle School, which is located at 1860 W. Montgomery Avenue in Villanova.

National Day of Reading book events bring together thousands of people in schools and communities in support of transgender and gender diverse youth.

Children's Book World, a local independent book store in Haverford, will be bringing a wide-selection of related books that will be available for purchase.

Featured Books for this year's National Day of Reading

• Red: A Crayon's Story by Michael Hall (he/him) - A blue crayon mistakenly labeled as "red" suffers an identity crisis. This is a story a out being true to your inner-self and following your own path.
• When Aidan Became a Brother by Kyle Lukoff (he/him) - This is a heartwarming book that will resonate with transgender children, reassure any child concerned a out becoming an older sibling and celebrate the many transitions a family can experience.
• My Rainbow by Trinity Neal (she/her) - A dedicated mom puts love into action as she creates the perfect rainbow-colored wig for her transgender daughter.
• Petra & Pearl Short Story from This is Our Rainbow by Lisa Bunker (she/they) - Through an online friendship, Petra and Pearl learn to support each other as they strive to live authentically. As they navigate school and family, they empower one another to share their transgender identities with those they love.
