The Merion Tribute House was the scene of a very special night for 39 members of the Lower Merion and Harriton High School classes of 2024 and their families, as the students received initial scholarships from the Lower Merion Township Scholarship Fund (LMTSF).
This year's recipients included one pair of twins and one set of triplets -- which may have been a first in the fund's 60-year history. LMTSF awards needs-based scholarships, which can be renewed for four years, to students attending post-secondary education.
In her comments, Fund Chair Katie McGlade noted that the LMTSF logo of an acorn is apropos, as small acorns can result in mighty trees, just like the fund's investments in deserving students' educations can result in might payoffs, to the benefit of our entire community.
The evening started off with a dessert reception, with music provided by the Lower Merion High School String Quartet, followed by the ceremony. Each of the scholarship recipients shared the name of the scholarship they were awarded, along with their post-secondary plans and intended area of study. The ceremony concluded with several a cappella numbers performed by Ace Harmony.
Since its inception, LMTSF has awarded more than 4500 grants totaling more than $3.5 million. If you'd like to donate, please click here.
