Student actors in Black Rock Spotlight, the middle school's drama group, will present "The Gazette," on November 7 and 8 at 7:00 p.m. and on November 9 at noon in the school's theater.
"The Gazette" was written by Kevin Ginsberg, who describes it as, "a satirical yet heartfelt exploration of high school dynamics, where ambition, friendship, and a quest for the title of valedictorian collide in ways both comical and touching."
With a diverse cast of quirky characters, the story follows Wendy Waterloo, Bette Midler High School's top contender for valedictorian, and her rivals, including Rhonda, who is determined to win for her ailing mother, and Marcus, a mysterious new student who seems to be receiving unusual support from a secretive faculty member.
The intrigue escalates as June, the young editor of the Bette Midler High Gazette, uncovers secrets, exposing corruption and manipulation at the heart of the race.
