Welcome to Black Rock Middle School!
With the guidance of a highly talented and dedicated staff and the structure of a rigorous, multi-disciplinary curriculum, students enjoy an individualized experience that prepares them to advance through their schooling as independent thinkers and compassionate, responsible global citizens!
On Tuesday, September 3, LMSD kicked off the 2024-25 academic year, welcoming back more than 8,600 students across its 11 schools!
Black Rock Middle School has earned the "No Place for Hate" distinction for the 2023-24 school year from the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a program that recognizes schools for their commitment to creating safe and inclusive environments! #LMSDBuildingBelonging
Traditionally, LMSD school names reflect the history of their geographic location. The name Black Rock Middle School was chosen in recognition of the distinct formations of black rocks in the area that the Indigenous Lenni Lenape people used to make tools and other implements.

O’Brien has been selected as a candidate in the 2024 Best Buddies of Philadelphia’s "Champion of the Year" program, an annual philanthropic competition raising funds and awareness in support of Best Buddies’ mission!
