Welcome to Belmont Hills Elementary School!
On Tuesday, September 7, 1999, our school proudly opened its doors to become the sixth elementary school in the Lower Merion School District. Belmont Hills is a K-5 school with approximately 435 students complimented by a staff of 21 regular education teachers. In addition, there are staff members who support the basic education program in the areas of art, vocal music, physical education, speech and language, autistic support, learning support, gifted education, reading, and developmental counseling. Also, students in grades 2-5 participate in our FLES (Foreign Language for Elementary School) Program as they learn the beautiful language of French. Our state-of-the-art library media center and computer lab completes the educational opportunities for all students at Belmont Hills. Recognizing the importance of integrating technology throughout the curriculum, students have available in their classrooms wireless laptops that are networked and provide internet access. This year, we have extended our resources for staff and students through the availability of video conferencing.
Our school colors are Yellow and Black and our mascot is Bernard the Bulldog. Our fourth and fifth grade students have an opportunity to participate in a variety of extracurricular activities including intramural sports, chorus, band and orchestra, student council, the Stock Market Game, the student newspaper (The Barker), and the Reading Olympics. All students at Belmont Hills enjoy the many opportunities provided to expand their talents as they participate in musical and dramatic productions, art presentations, author days, and community service programs.
Belmont Hills School is also supported by an active Home and School Association. Various activities and fundraisers promote a strong sense of community and school spirit as well as provide exciting school assemblies, an author's day, book fair, and cultural programs.
A dedicated and caring staff, enthusiastic students, and positive parents make Belmont Hills School a special place for everyone!
