Dear students, parents, guardians and members of the Bala Cynwyd Middle School community,
I am very pleased to be appointed interim principal of Bala Cynwyd Middle School. As I start my appointment, I have met with excellent faculty and staff. We are working diligently to prepare for another successful school year. I have also received much support from District administration. I am looking forward to continued collegial relationships with the BCMS and District teams.
I would like to let you know a few things about me. I worked in Abington School District for 26 years. At Abington, I had a variety of positions. These included school psychologist, chairperson of guidance, supervisor/director of pupil services and principal. I was principal of Abington Junior High School from 2011 to 2017. AJHS has around 1800 students and about 200 faculty and staff. I retired in August 2017. However, in December 2017, I became the interim principal at Upper Perkiomen Middle School. I worked there through this past June. On a personal note, I am originally from South Philadelphia and I have received all three of my degrees from the University of Pennsylvania (Class of ‘79, ‘85 and ‘92). I also am a lecturer at Penn in the School of Education.
I have worked at all education levels. Student success and growth are the ultimate goals of all my efforts. Of course, this is not an individual task. I anticipate developing and maintaining productive working relationships with all BCMS families as we work jointly to promote student progress. I am committed to strong school-family bonds that are a foundation of student development. I especially look forward to getting to know the students. Our students have a wonderful variety of interests and talents and I will enjoy learning about them. We will acknowledge many achievements over the course of this school year.
Please feel free to communicate with me as needed. My email is email@example.com. The school phone number is 610-645-1480. I will be corresponding regularly regarding events, accomplishments and important school information.
I hope you will join me in looking ahead to a fulfilling 2018-2019 school year.
Mark Pellico, Ph.D.
