Bala Cynwyd Middle School recently welcomed Hip Hop Fundamentals – an award-winning group of passionate, professional breakdancers – for an action-packed and educational cultural enrichment assembly as part of the Knights' Black History Month programming. The members of Hip Hop Fundamentals are certified teaching artists, seasoned performers, battle-tested dancers and exemplary entertainers, who bring their shows to the next level by inviting audience members on stage to participate in the program.
Hip Hop Fundamentals' teacher-artists led students through an engaging exploration of the Civil Rights Movement with a focus on Dr. Martin Luther King’s message of loving and serving others. Throughout the program, students got to watch the masterful moves of Hip Hop Fundamentals in multiple dynamic dance routines while also learning about the importance of youth involvement in the Civil Rights Movement as well as concepts such as segregation, racism and non-violence.
At different points in the assembly, Hip Hop Fundamentals provided students the awesome opportunity to join them on stage to try out some dance moves and BC’s brave volunteers did not disappoint! Check out the slideshow below for images from the assembly!
