Bala Cynwyd Middle School art teacher Beverly Rusoff was awarded the Traci Watson Heart Award, from the Citadel Heart of Learning contest.
A representative from the Citadel Credit Union surprised Ms. Rusoff in her art classroom Tuesday afternoon, May 9, 2023, presenting her with the heart-shaped crystal award and a check for $1000 to support Lucy Belle's Rainbow.
Ms. Rusoff is a co-founder of the organization, which provides children fighting cancer at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia with "swag bags" of art supplies along with art therapy support.
Lucy Belle Perkins was a sixth grader at Bala Cynwyd Middle School when she was diagnosed with the brain tumor that took her life at age 14. Her love of art inspired the charity's mission.
Ms. Rusoff will be featured in an upcoming news segment on Fox 29.
