Several dozen Lower Merion High School students spent their Thursday Lunch and Learn period learning how they can become successful activists for causes that are important to them.
The students heard from a panel including Sara Wallace of Moms Demand Action; Gabby Krain-Sasson, who is the Law and Policy Director of March For Our Lives; and Matt Bieber, Communications Director for Rep. Madeleine Dean (D-PA 4th).
The student moderator directed the discussion away from partisan political issues to questions of how young people can make their voices heard by those in power and how they can best engage their peers in meaningful discussions on serious topics.
The panelists assured the students that they can have an impact on issues. They urged the students to educate themselves, to join organizations that represent their views and to both listen and speak to their peers to be successful advocates.
