Students don't head back to class in the Lower Merion School District until Tuesday, September 6, 2022, but it's already back-to-school time for teachers and other District staff.
The week of August 22, 2022, new teachers and professionals took part in four days of training and orientation, where they learned about the District's policies and priorities, set up their technology accounts, took bus tours of the District and engaged in team-building activities.
Starting August 29, 2022, they were joined by returning staff members, who will be working on professional development, setting up their classrooms, and preparing for the implementation of our new K-4 and 5-8 curricula along with the opening of Black Rock Middle School.
Transportation staff, including bus drivers and bus aides, also had a day of training and professional development. They've also been out on the roads, driving students to non-public schools that have started already and practicing their LMSD routes.
On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, staff will take part in the annual Convocation -- in person for the first time since September 2019 -- where Superintendent Dr. Mumin, will share his vision for the upcoming year and emphasize the important roles that all of the adults in our District have in inspiring students and creating a sense of belonging.
It's an exciting time, but the real excitement comes after Labor Day, when some 8700+ students return to fill our buildings with their excitement and enthusiasm for learning, growing and making new friends.
