Belmont Hills Book Fair Benefits Philadelphia School
Belmont Hills Book Fair Benefits Philadelphia School

Students from Belmont Hills Elementary School weren't the only ones to benefit from their school's annual Book Fair. Students at Cassidy Elementary School in Philadelphia benefited as well.

During their Book Fair, Belmont Hills students shopped for new books for themselves. Then, they donated the change from their purchases to help buy books for students at the Philadelphia school. A Belmont Hills parent volunteer used the donations to buy nearly 30 new books for the library at Cassidy.

The library at Cassidy is run by volunteers through the West Philadelphia Alliance for Children. Lynne Breslau, Co-Team Leader for the Cassidy WePAC Library, said, "These new books will enhance the library's collection. In fact, I don't think they will even make it the shelf before they are checked out by eager students."

She added, "You should be proud of the generosity of these members of the Lower Merion School District community."

LMSD's Strategic Plan, "All Forward," provides a framework for a collective, intentional and positive approach to change. Its five aspirational pathways guide us toward continual innovation and transformation to further educational excellence for every student. The Belmont Hills students' generosity is an example of Strategic Pathway #5: A Spirit of Community. To learn more about #LMSDAllForward and the Strategic Pathways, click here.
