Mission
The ELD Academy will support students at language proficiency levels Entering through Beginning by aligning with the mission and vision of LMSD. The program will create a bridge of learning that extends beyond the traditional school year, providing students with continued opportunities to strengthen their language development and academic success.
Program
Students will work with LMSD ELD staff, providing them with the opportunity to maintain and further develop their language skills while also connecting with students in the SPIES Summer Program.
The program will run Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for six weeks, from June 30 through August 6, 2026. A typical day will include targeted language instruction that focuses on vocabulary development and the use of visual supports, while strengthening students’ speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Students will also have daily opportunities for outdoor activities throughout the program.
Breakfast will be provided free of charge to all students each day. Students may either pack a lunch and snack and bring a water bottle or purchase lunch through the school program. Lunch menus will be shared closer to the start of the program. Students who qualify for free or reduced-price lunch during the school year will continue to receive those benefits during the summer program.
After Care
Right At School, the onsite childcare provider for LMSD elementary schools, will offer after-program childcare at Belmont Hills Elementary School. Transportation from Penn Valley Elementary School to Belmont Hills will be provided for students who enroll in the program.
Tuition/Registration
There is no fee for students eligible to participate in the ELD Summer Academy. The program is supported by federal funds.
Families of eligible ELD students will receive invitations to register. For more information, families of elementary students should follow up with their child's ELD teacher for information about eligibility for ELD Academy or other summer programs.

Attendance/Transportation
To maximize learning and receive the full benefit of the program, students are expected to attend the entire six-week session. Parents/guardians who are aware of prior family commitments should inform Summer Academy staff during the registration process.
Transportation will be provided by the Lower Merion School District. Students will be picked up at their designated bus stops and will arrive at school no later than 9:00 a.m. Students will be dismissed from class to the bus line at 1:50 p.m., and buses will depart from school at 2:00 p.m.
Bus information, including pickup and drop-off times and locations, will be shared closer to the start of the program.
