Gifted Education Screening* and Evaluation
*Students are universally screened in 2nd Grade; General screening is available in all other grades
Step One
Family/Guardian requests screening
School Team requests screening
Step Two
Achievement Team carries out systematic screening process.
Step Three
Screening data indicate need for evaluation
Screening data do not indicate need for evaluation. (Process is complete)
Step Four
Upon school receipt of a Permission to Evaluate (PTE) from the family/guardian, an evaluation is initiated by the Gifted Multidisciplinary Team (GMDT), which includes the family/guardian; Within 60 days, a Gifted Written Report (GWR) is completed, which reflects assessment results and conclusions of the evaluation.
Step Five
If found eligible and in need of Specially Designed Instruction(SDI)
Gifted Individual Education Plan (GIEP) team creates GIEP, details goals and SDI; Notice of Recommended Assignment (NORA) issued.
If found eligible, but not in need of Specially Designed Instruction (SDI)
Strengths are met within general education with differentiated instruction; Notice of Recommended Assignment (NORA) issued.
If found not eligible, strengths and needs are met within general education; Notice of Recommended Assignment (NORA) issued.
