Family STEM Night

Event Information

Elementary STEM Night  is designed to provide students, families and teachers with the opportunity to engage in hands-on STEM activities together in a fun way!

*This event is open to LMSD families only. An adult is required to be present with student(s) at all times and are encouraged to participate in the activities with their children.*

Date: Monday, May 20, 2019


  • 6:00-6:30- Robotics demonstration   in gym lobby
  • 6:30-8:00- Makerspace activities available in the gym
  • 6:30-8:00- Design challenges in the cafeteria. Choice of 3 different challenges.
  • 6:30-8:00- Quiet room available   nearby
    • 6:30-6:50- Save the Mermaid:
      The poor mermaid is hiding in her cave    because her “ocean” is polluted. Can your family save her?  Design a method to safely rescue the mermaid and get her into a clean “ocean”.
    • 7:00-7:20- Marble Run Water Slide:
      Everyone enjoys the thrill of a waterslide! Family groups will design a model waterslide (aka marble run) that must safely transport its passenger (the marble) into the “ocean” below.
    • 7:30-7:50- Baby Turtle Rescue:
      Family groups will design/devise a method to transport a baby turtle through the sea gull    infested beach safely to the ocean.
