When COVID-19 struck several months ago and the quarantine was put into place, Merion Elementary School physical education teacher Ed Davis wanted to make sure his students were staying active and healthy while stuck at home.
When Davis learned of a Merion family's month-long "marathon" in April to keep their kids active, he thought this would be a fun way to inspire others to both spend quality time together and get some exercise. He scaled up the scope of the program, threw in some alliteration and challenged the entire school community to each log 26.2 miles - be it via running, biking, walking, skateboarding, etc. - in Merion's Month of May Marathon.
Davis also asked participants to send him photos or videos of themselves as they completed their 26.2 miles throughout the month of May. As you can see from the video below, there were many members of the Merion family who completed the challenge! Way to go, Merion!
