Penn Wynne lends a helping hand at Wynnewood Valley Park

The Penn Wynne Elementary School fifth grade class, along with teachers and parent volunteers, recently gathered for a community service project as students spent the day cleaning and beautifying Wynnewood Valley Park.

After dividing the 130 fifth graders into smaller groups, the students worked through five stations throughout the park as they pulled garlic mustard, bamboo and slit grass; picked up litter and sticks; made mason bee hives; mulched trees; planted grass seeds in the meadow; and added wood chips to the walking paths. The teachers and parent volunteers explained each station to the students and the benefits that would be provided to the park and environment.
